Citywits

Citywits is a musical project that I have maintained for about ten years post my prior band Small Drawings. I moved abroad and Citywits was originally founded as a way to make solo music when I didn’t have anyone around to make music with.

I am self taught on all instruments (minus like a year of guitar lessons when I was 12) and self produced. All Citywits music is written, played, produced, recorded, mastered, and everything else, by me the human. However I have always been interested in new tech and “experimental” approaches and on the most recent two albums I have employed AI for a variety of tasks (non musical).

The music is not and will never be AI.

I dont make any money from this, this is a passion project. The writing and the playing of the music is why I do this in the first place. There are many things you can say about Citywits but it’s clearly of its own style. Ive yet to hear a citywits-esque AI song lol.

I use AI as a general companion to discuss ideas with, as a coder for this very website, a recording engineers assistant, and more. It is the opinion of Citywits that this technology has immense potential for creative applications in concert with a human collaborator, and really that it isnt going anywhere. In fact, it’s getting better all the time, and Citywits plans to adapt.

Citywits has released 2.5 albums: “Elemeno” (more of an EP, up on YouTube and SoundCloud, never officially released), “Weirdo Music” (made in early 2025 when things were on the up), and “Citywits” (made in late 2025, when things were totally obliterated).

Currently there are about 6 songs that are in pretty deep stages of completion, but due to some life circumstances (including dickhead neighbors) work has largely stalled and been put on the back burner. Citywits will return, it always does.

In the mean time, I still play some covers on YouTube, make videos here and there, and run Citywits Studios. If you or a loved one need affordable recording time with a guy who even critics describe as “pretty chill” contact me and we can work something out.

I have done a handful of tracks for different people but most recently I did 3 songs for the artist Cathartic B. — Hellspeak, Dont Be So Dramatic, and Am I FaLLn Or Am I Trippin? There are a couple others on my YouTube, any and all genres welcome!
